Dr. Sue Ellen Carpenter

I’m here to help. With over 30 years of experience in reproductive medicine, my specialties include in vitro fertilization, treating congenital anomalies associated with infertility, as well as endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

After both of my children experienced infertility, I decided that we needed to address fertility treatment from multiple angles.

This is why we founded bloom fertility.

I value being able to educate my patients on their diagnosis and treatment options, develop treatment plans that work for each individual’s needs, and look forward to helping you reach your goal of parenthood.

Dr. Carpenter has been a recipient of the Castle Connolly Top Doc award since 2018.

Chad A. Johnson, PHD, HCLD

Chad spent much of his youth in Mississippi, living most of his life in the south – a departure from his birth state of Pennsylvania and several years in New Jersey. As an Animal Science major, and a PhD in Reproductive Physiology, Chad’s interest in the reproductive field even as an undergraduate, took him to the University of Pennsylvania where he worked at the veterinary school. From there, a career in IVF was a natural progression. When asked about what he loves most about his work, he will tell you that helping people achieve their dream of parenthood makes for a very fulfilling career!

Married, with 4 children of his own, 3 dogs and 2 cats, his love of the outdoors takes him to the north Georgia and North Carolina mountains for an early morning hike and on the weekends, to Wilmington for fishing and boating activities.

Chad enjoys music of all genres and is known for his varied musical tastes. Whether in the lab, the car or at home with his family, you may find him enjoying The Bach Cello Suites, his “go to” for unwinding, celebrating or simply appreciating all that life holds in store.

Becky Davis

Born a Jersey Girl, Becky was raised in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania where most of her family still resides. Growing up, she lived for vacations at the Jersey shore with her two brothers and one sister. She skied, camped, and hiked as often as possible, and still visits family in Pennsylvania during the holidays. She loves her new city which she lovingly calls “Hotlanta!”

Becky’s career started in 2003 at the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Center at Crozer Chester Medical Center just outside of Philadelphia where she served as an Andrologist. Her formal training as an Embryologist began at East Carolina University Women’s Physicians in Greenville, NC. During her tenure at ECU, she obtained her Technical Supervisor certification in Andrology and Embryology through the American Board of Bioanalysis. She also performed Phlebotomy and ran Endocrine assays for IVF patients allowing her to have a full scope of practice and patient contact with respect to IVF.

Becky comes to Bloom Fertility with 8 years at a one of Atlanta’s largest IVF centers perfecting her Embryology skillsets which include ICSI/PICSI, Laser Assisted Hatching, Embryo biopsy for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), and Vitrification (cryopreservation) of oocytes and blastocysts.

Embryology gives her a sense of purpose. She considers the opportunity of being a patient’s very first babysitter a privilege and honor. She lives for those positive pregnancy tests.

During her off time, one may find her outdoors or traveling. Costa Rica is her happy place – where she enjoys the wildlife, surfing and lifestyle. If you ask her what her favorite saying is, she’ll quote some lyrics from the Avett Brothers: “Always remember that there’s nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name”. As an Embryologist – it just fits!

Married with a son named Finn, two dogs and a cat, Becky is a family gal who enjoys life to the fullest.

Mikesha J. Middlebrook, BSN, RN

Mikesha was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan but is really a southern girl at heart from spending summers with her grandparents in South Carolina. She received her undergraduate nursing degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA and has been a women's health nurse for 20+ years and an infertility nurse for 12 years. She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Nurses Professional Group and in 2020 was appointed to ASRM's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force.

As a young girl of age 12, Mikesha experienced being in the birthing room when her sister was born. It was there she observed the difference between doctor and nurse, how they each cared for her mother. Fascinated and excited by this, she decided then, that she would pursue a career in medicine and work in women’s health. She loves helping families reach their dream of expanding their family. Mikesha knows firsthand what her patients are going through. An infertility patient herself, she understands the struggle, desire, pain, sadness and joy that comes with the journey.

Married, and mother to two beautiful children, Mikesha enjoys the time she spends with her family. She loves to cruise and travel with them. On her off time you may find her delving into her favorite books – The Harry Potter Series or anything sci-fi/fantasy related. When you meet Mikesha you will understand why she lives by her favorite quote: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” by Maya Angelou.

Cynthia Smith, RN

Cynthia was born in Richmond VA, and raised in Hinesville, GA. She comes to us with vast experience in the women’s healthcare space serving previously as a labor and delivery nurse. After seven years she began to focus more on patients who had begun their journey to parenthood, with infertility treatment. Being part of the delivery process, particularly in those scenarios made an indelible impression, motivating her to learn more about the fertility process, and learning to guide patients on their journey. She loves caring for patients and is truly humbled each time a fertility patient delivers their new baby! She attributes her desire and motivation to be the best that she can as an RN, and furthermore, a more caring, loving person, to working in infertility.

In her downtime, you may find Cynthia Netflix-binging, hanging out with friends and family or exploring new restaurants. She loves reading, journaling, and playing with her pets. A long walk or planning her next travel adventure is also at the top of the list for self-care and fun!

Diana Castillo, Andrologist with CCMA certification

Meet Ms. Castillo, a native of Atlanta, GA, who discovered her passion for hormones and Reproductive Endocrinology early on, paving the way for her career in fertility. Driven by a commitment to embody compassionate care in the clinical world, she actively fights harmful stigmas and dedicates herself to educating others.

As part of the fertility care team at Bloom Fertility, Ms. Castillo thrives on her analytical and detail-oriented nature, finding fulfillment in the room for growth and ongoing education within her field. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys attending concerts, indulging in reading, and savoring snacks during her downtime.

With a diverse taste in music that makes it challenging to pick a favorite song, Ms. Castillo embraces the richness of her interests and continues to contribute to the world of fertility with a blend of expertise and empathy.

Pearl Nichols, CMA, AAMA

Pearl Nichols, CMA, AAMA, brings over 24 years of dedicated experience in women’s healthcare to her role as a Certified Medical Assistant at Bloom Fertility. Born and raised in White Plains, New York, Pearl initially aimed for a career in medical billing and coding. However, after an insightful discussion with her advisor, she was encouraged to pursue medical assisting instead. During her externship in OBGYN, she discovered a deep passion for women’s health, which became the foundation of her career.

For 21 years, Pearl honed her skills in OBGYN, always harboring a desire to work in fertility due to her own personal experiences with fertility challenges. Although opportunities in the fertility field were limited earlier in her career, she eventually made the transition three years ago, feeling a strong calling to support patients through the emotional, mental, and physical aspects of their fertility journey.

At Bloom Fertility, Pearl finds fulfillment in sharing her story with patients, offering them hope and encouragement during a critical time in their lives. Her compassionate approach and wealth of experience make her a trusted resource for those navigating the complexities of fertility treatment.

Outside of work, Pearl is committed to her personal well-being, engaging in water aerobics four days a week. She also empowers women by training them in safety and protection with firearms, reflecting her dedication to helping others in every aspect of her life.
